The Intel Ice Lake-SP Xeon CPU Along With 36 Cores & 72 Threads At 3.60 GHz Update
The Intel Xeon CPU leaking reports claim to launch part of the Ice Lake-SP line of processors for the upcoming year. Intel has introduced 14 core / 28 thread and 32 core / 64 threads variants in past as its best chipset. However, these are the recent chipsets from Intel. Last week the 14 core CPU from Intel was leaked while the 32 core CPU received a teaser made officially by Intel developers.
The all-new upcoming latest chipset features 36 cores. From the news, we can already see that this is Intel’s highest tease of chipset ever. Before that, this percent of the core isn’t presented by Intel.
The upcoming Ice Lake-SP Xeon CPU covered no model number yet and but is coming with Intel’s 10nm Willow cove core architecture in it. The all-new chip features 36 cores and 72 threads. The chip comes with a base clock of 3.60 GHz, but the maximum boost clock is still not available as per the Geek bench.
The Intel new chip also come up with 54 MB of L3 and 45 MB of L2 cache (1.25 MB per core). The chip has been tested on an ASUS Y4R-A1-ASUS-G1 platform, which is featured with two LGA 4189 sockets. It can support up to two Ice Lake-SP chips.
Some of the major known upgrades made up with the Intel’s 10nm+ for Ice Lake-SP Xeon CPU will deliver some quality features, which include:
- 2.7x density scaling vs. 14nm
- Self-aligned Quad-Patterning
- Contact Over Active Gate
- Cobalt Interconnect (M0, M1)
- 1st Gen Foveros 3D Stacking
- 2nd Gen EMIB
Since we know that the upcoming chipset is a dual-socket platform that is tested, the total number of cores and threads were 72 & 144, respectively. The dual-socket platform features 500 GB of DDR4 system memory (ECC).
