Several companies have introduced foldable smartphones over the past years. The increasing demand and popularity of these devices have also made Xiaomi introduce it’s first foldable smartphone. At the beginning of 2019, the President of the company, Lin Bin, had a compact tablet in his hand, which could be transformed into a smartphone. The device could be bent from both sides. It has been confirmed by MIUI 21 Code that Xiaomi’s foldable phone shall be released in the first half of 2021.

It seems like that the Xiaomi foldable smartphone is still far not the best device in town, and problems do exist. One of them is that the smartphone is pretty expensive. The company has already now stepped into the territory of flagships from A-brands and began to produce expensive devices. But in a foldable smartphone, it is hard to convince the audience to try such a new device. Also, users’ reactions to the idea of Xiaomi Mi Mix Alpha confirmed that the audience is not ready to buy such foldable phones at a very high price. Thus, although with such prominent features and an attractive design, Xiaomi’s foldable phone has a difficult outreach.
