The Conjuring 3 is on the horizon, and finally, the team has dropped the first look of the upcoming horror flick. The year 2020 has been such a let down for the fans, and as we approach the end, we hope for a better year up ahead. Major movies were postponed or released directly on OTT platforms, and Conjuring 3 was also affected by the ongoing pandemic.

Initially scheduled for a release in September, The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It was pushed back to 2021. According to the latest reports, Patrick Wilson is determined to see the film in the theatres in 2021, irrespective of the condition. He tweeted, “Covid be damned, we are gonna bring C3 to you guys in ’21!”

This might seem like a hopeful sign for the fans as the wait has been too long for the third installment. Conjuring 2 was released back in 2016, and it has been four years since we heard about The Conjuring 3.

Conjuring 3 has also welcomed a new director as James Wan has taken his time off from sitting on the big chairs. The director has been a part of the first two movies in the horror franchise, closely following the struggle of Lorraine and Ed Warren. However, Michael Chaves (responsible for The Curse of La Llorona) will be helming The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It.

James Wan will be busy with his other project ‘Malignant.’ In an interview, James revealed that despite enjoying working with Chaves, it was a bittersweet experience for him to step back as the franchise director. He said,

Working with Michael Chaves on La Llorona, I saw a filmmaker that really gets these kinds of films. It’s bittersweet for me to pass the baton on, but it’s good to get a fresh take on where we can take the Conjuring Universe.

Chaves also revealed that he wanted to explore a new direction for the upcoming title, ‘The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It.’ He wanted Conjuring 3 to ‘get away from the whole haunted house set-up.’ He also added that part 3 would be on a ‘whole another level, and fans will see something they have never witnessed in The Conjuring world.’

Conjuring 2, which arrived in 2016, was a significant hit at the box-office. With a plethora of positive reviews, the movie grossed $320 million worldwide, following which the announcement of Conjuring 3 came out in 2018. From Chaves’ statement, we can expect the bar to rise even higher, so it’s safe to assume that a more adventurous and terrifying story is waiting for us.

The Conjuring 3 release date:

The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It will be released on 4th June 2021.
