The announcement was made by Netflix earlier that they have made an agreement with the French-based video game company Ubisoft. The deal will grant Netflix the rights to produce new content based on the popular franchise, Assassin’s Creed.
Under the deal, the first will be the imminent live-action series, and according to reports, the show is currently looking for its showrunner. I contrast, Danielle Kreinik and Jason Altman will be serving as the executive producers of the series. The show is teased as an epic-thrilling contest that will tap the iconic video-game character into a fast-paced, dynamic action-filled storyline.

In an official press release, Jason Altman said,
For more than 10 years, millions of fans around the world have helped shape the Assassin’s Creed brand into an iconic franchise. We’re thrilled to create an Assassin’s Creed series with Netflix, and we look forward to developing the next saga in the Assassin’s Creed universe
On the other hand, Netflix also showed the same level of enthusiasm. Netflix Original Series’ Vice President, Peter Friedlander, revealed that they are highly excited to partner with Ubisoft to bring Assassin’s Creed’s ‘rich, multilayered storytelling; into life.
He added that Netflix would work carefully to craft a thrilling and entertaining storyline based on the IP. They will also commit to doing justice to the historical timelines, the beautiful worlds of the franchise by giving them the most appropriate look.
The current development between Netflix and Ubisoft does give us hope, as the previous Assassin’s Creed movie released in 2017 didn’t manage to impress the fans. 2017’s flick starring Michael Fassbender, despite eaning a small profit at the box-office, was flooded with negative reviews. The less engaging storyline, lack of emphasis on parkour, and the overall action sequences didn’t help the film either.
So, Netflix would surely want to avoid that disaster, and it will be interesting to see what the team is planning.
Netflix has realized that the potential of live-action series based on video games is pretty high, and it’s evident that they want to explore a new area, which is quite a tough path to tread on. Earlier, Netflix announced a series based on ‘Resident Evil,’ and with the ongoing adaption of ‘The Witcher,’ we hope that the upcoming Assassin’s Creed live-action series doesn’t disappoint us.
